Company History

1948

Engineer Max Schlatterer from Calw is working on an idea in the family home in southern Germany: endless belts. It is the year the company was founded, at that time still under the name ‘Max Schlatterer Maschinenbandweberei’.

1950-1960

The company grows over the following decades. Further company buildings are added.

1963

Max Schlatterer’s daughter Inge joins the company in 1950 and takes over the management together with her husband Gerhard Beckh in 1963.

1970 -1990

Not only the advertising becomes more colourful, but also the company’s customers. Internationalisation is progressing and the company is soon visiting trade fairs and customers all over the world.

1989

Thomas Beckh, grandson of Max Schlatterer, joins the family business. The company is now in its third generation of family management.

1997

Another milestone in the company’s history: the ground-breaking ceremony for the new production building in the industrial park “Vohenstein” in Herbrechtingen.

2011

The next construction phase in Vohenstein is being realised.

2021

Work begins on the third building extension in Vohenstein. With its relocation, all production and administration areas are now once again united in one place under several roofs.

2022

The company’s first international subsidiary, Esband USA Inc., is founded in Virginia.

2023

The company celebrates its 75th anniversary. The picture shows the company management with the Beckh family.

Esband and Schlatterer

The idea for endless belts had company founder Max Schlatterer over 75 years ago. The company still bears his name today: Max Schlatterer GmbH & Co. KG. Our brand “Esband” is also closely associated with his name – Esband stands for “Endless Schlatterer Band” – “Band” means “belt” in German. Our current logo combines the company name and the brand: “Esband Schlatterer”.
