Background information concerning ATEX:
The ATEX directive 94/9/EG regulates the placing on the market of products that are used in explosive hazardous areas, where electrostatic charges have serious consequences.
Conveyer belts may become electrostatically charged when interacting with system parts. Inflammable dust particles such as flour or sugar can especially be found in the food industry. If these particles are exposed to high temperatures or ignition sparks, they will explode. Therefore, it is necessary to have conveyer belts that are ATEX-compliant in specific applications.
